Background
Kansas City CMM Calibration and Repair coordinates performance verification, geometric adjustment, repair and programming for coordinate measuring machines and related gaging used across Missouri and the Greater Midwest. Work is placed with laboratories accredited to ISO/IEC 17025, matched to the instrument's range and the certificate the customer's quality system requires. The customer base runs from independent job shops through Tier 2 and Tier 3 aerospace suppliers, where a stopped CMM means a stopped inspection department and a certificate that does not survive audit is worse than no certificate at all.
How the Business Started
Coordinate measuring machines used to check aerostructure tooling, sheet-metal form and composite assemblies drift the same way any precision instrument does: scales foul, air bearings wear, geometry moves after a crash or a relocation. Verification against ISO 10360-2 or ASME B89.4.1 catches that drift before it reaches a customer's incoming inspection, and a documented as-found result gives a quality system something to act on when a machine fails.
Scheduling is built around the reality that a CMM under test is an inspection department standing still. Large-envelope machines are verified on-site wherever practical; portable arms, smaller machines and shop gaging travel to a laboratory. Both routes return the same certificate content: results, method, uncertainty, traceability and a stated decision rule.

The Standards Behind the Work
These are the operating commitments the work is measured against.
- 01
As-found before adjustment
Data is captured before correction, preserving the record an impact assessment depends on.
- 02
Scope checked, not assumed
The laboratory's accredited scope is matched to the instrument before a quote is issued.
- 03
Certificate content stated plainly
Uncertainty, traceability and decision rule appear on every accredited certificate.
- 04
Downtime treated as a cost
Scheduling accounts for what a stopped CMM does to an inspection queue.
Where to Go From Here
The standards, traceability arrangements and management system behind the work are set out on the quality system page. The competence framework for the people performing it is described on the our team page.
